Student Adventures Foundation

As a result of extensive consultation with a variety of RAG organisations throughout the UK, we found that there is a noticeable funding gap developing across the board as Universities and Unions try to reduce their overheads for the uncertain times ahead. This has had an unfortunate effect on RAGs, some of which have lost sabbatical officers and others that have seen funding cuts.

In response to this Student Adventures decided to try and help to tackle this problem by launching the Student Adventures Foundation.

The primary aim of the foundation is to promote RAG through out the UK as the fantastic body of students that you are and to try and help, particularly with funding to ensure that every RAG has a stable future.

The Foundation consists of three different funds, which have been set up to cover different aspects of RAG.

The recruitment fund was set up to help RAGs support the students that have decided to signup for a Student Adventures trip. We recognise that the RAGs have an integral part to play in ensuring that students have a fantastic experience on one of our adventures and as such we would like to ensure that the RAGs have the resources to promote these events and provide on going assistance, all of which costs money. Furthermore we would like to see RAGs have the ability to grow further, so these grants can also be used in any manner that the RAG sees fit for working with their student body.

Depending on what adventure a participants signs up for will depend on the size of the grant, but the signup as processed monthly and all signups that are over 14 days old at the time of processing will be paid out that month. This is to ensure that you have the money as soon as possible and when you need it - rather than at the end of the year.

The Training and development fund has been set up to aid UK RAGs in achieving their long term goals, whether this is future expansion, new events or simply to learn from each other. Student Adventures is committed to organising several opportunities for RAGs to get together through out the year and foster better communication.

The Innovation fund has been set up for RAGs to apply for help with a specific project that they would like to implement. The purpose of this fund is to ensure that RAGs have access to funds to help them fulfil a new project or aim and further benefit their student body.
